Favorite Buttermilk Pancakes
- Category: Breakfast
Description
Buttermilk Pancakes are the breakfast of choice for every sleepover with our grandkids!
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
Combine the milk and vinegar in a bowl and let sit for at least 5 minutes to sour. Once the milk has soured add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, egg, and melted butter. Stir until well blended. Don’t over stir the batter or they won’t be as fluffy. Melt a tablespoon or so of butter on a heated griddle or frying pan and spoon batter in the pan. Leave space in between pancakes so they don’t stick together. When bubbles form on the top of the batter it’s time to flip them. Cook just until the inside of the pancake isn’t wet. Remove to a plate and butter them while they are warm. Add syrup and enjoy!
Notes
After I mix the batter I usually let it sit for a few minutes before I cook the pancakes. They turn out different every time I make them. I’m pretty sure it has to do with how long I stir the batter and how long the batter rests before I cook the pancakes.
